This year many of us will be holidaying in Yorkshire, favouring proximity over foreign climes.  We are so lucky to have this glorious county with its abundance of beauty right on our doorstep. Whether we are looking for rugged moorland, lush forests, riverside sanctuaries or coastal retreats, we are blessed with them all.

The Yorkshire Coast

My personal holiday choice this year is Filey.  The Yorkshire coast has such outstanding natural beauty, and Filey really is a hidden gem. With its yawning stretch of golden sand, historic promenade and Edwardian architecture it’s one of the most picturesque towns in the country.  Cayton Bay, known for its break waves and stunning dog friendly beaches, is just a stone’s throw away.

A short drive up the coast is the wonderful town of Whitby. There is lots to do, but Whitby also retains an authentic, old fashioned vibe. The quirky streets, breathtaking views and abundance of independent shops, tea rooms and watering holes makes it a great box ticker for the whole family. And closer still is the little village of Robin Hoods Bay.  This place literally is picture postcard perfect. And whilst it’s vibrant and colourful, it is also steeped in history.  Full of winding paths and steep cobbled streets and stories of smugglers…what more could you ask for? Holidaying in Yorkshire is a breeze!

Yorkshire Days Out

We really are blessed to have such glorious places to visit in our very own county. And I’m prepping days out too. How about Yorkshire Sculpture Park, or the recently revamped and expanding Yorkshire Wildlife Park? This place is not just about seeing wild animals.  Lakes, reserves and diverse habitats are being introduced. As well as the park becoming home to more animals helping at-risk species, it’s spaces, viewing areas and beauty all add to the experience. They even have the Yorkshire Hive, a super duper new shopping area full of local businesses selling unique and local products.

I’ve only talked about a snippet of all there is to see and do in Yorkshire. If you have places you want to shout about, get in touch and let us know!

If you’re keen to be reminded out of great outdoors, you may be interested in some Dialectable products that do just that. We love the smells of the coast and countryside, and have captured them in our range of Eau de Yorkshire products:
